Should you get an inspection?
Having a great home inspector is just as important as being paired up with a good real estate agent. It may take extra time and money to do a home inspection, but it can save you thousands of dollars in the long run. Do your research and be sure you find a knowledgeable home inspector. Ask around for a referral from family, friends, coworkers, or your real estate agent.
Each inspector does things a little differently, so don't be afraid to ask them what their process is for inspecting a home and what type of information you will be receiving from the inspection. If you have a particular area you would like them to focus on, or something the property has that is different from the area, be sure to discuss it with them. Once the inspector has flagged items in your home inspection, follow up on those issues and hire experts if you need to look into the issue further.
Do your homework and get an inspection, don't just take the sellers word on the condition of the house. There may be issues that they are not even aware exist.
